Dear National Secretaries Plans are progressing for SICOGA 2018 (the Servas International Conference and General Assembly) in Korea in October. SI Exco  would like to involve young Servas members between 18 and 30 as volunteer helpers to assist in the running of the General Assembly and other activities during the conference.   Following an appeal for donations and discussions with the Development Committee we have brought together funding from a number of sources. An announcement about grants for young people has  been delayed until it was clearer what funding would be  available.We are now in a position to offer a limited number of grants for young people to come to Korea as volunteers.   You are invited to put forward a young person from your national group who you think could make a contribution to the conference. To be considered for a grant they must meet the requirements set out in the attached application form.So please check these carefully before an application is made. Information about what would be involved in being a youth volunteer is also included.   Unfortunately only a limited amount of funding is available  so we can give no guarantee that it will be offered to all those applying. We may be able to offer a grant to cover both  travel costs  and the registration fee of 720 US$ or  only  the registration fee.   The applications we receive will be considered by myself as SI vice president, the convener of the youth committee and members of the development committee. We will aim to let young people know the outcome of their applications without delay.   The closing date for applications is 17 June 2018. We are aware that this leaves only a short time for young people to complete their applications. So we hope  as soon as possible you can have discussions within your national group about which young people might want to apply. Please ask if you have any questions
